Behaviour Expectations and Praise and Rewards
At Nether Stowe we have high expectations. We believe that it is important to codify and communicate these expectations to our students. For this reason we created the ‘Nether Stowe way is A PROUDER way’. This links to our school values and our three school rules. By meeting our A PROUDER expectations throughout the school day, we know that our learners are being the best that they can be.
This approach underpins our behaviour policy which can be found here: School Policies – Nether Stowe School
A PROUDER way:
A ttendance
At Nether Stowe, we should attend school each day. We understand this means that some days may require more resilience but we know that excellent attendance plays a huge part in being successful- both academically and holistically. Attendance to all school lessons each day is also key to ensuring positive outcomes.
P unctuality
At Nether Stowe, being on time to school each day ensures students can participate in our daily Strong Start. This is where key messages are communicated and success celebrated. Being punctual to all lessons prevents disruption to learning for other students and means students do not miss out on retrieval practice during the Do Now Activity.
R esponsibility
At Nether Stowe, each student is responsible for their own choices. We work closely with our students to support them in making positive decisions around their behaviour- inside and outside of lessons.
O rganisation
At Nether Stowe, all students should come to school each day with all necessary equipment to allow them to engage in all aspects of learning. This includes having their iPad and stylus charged to 100%, a black and green pen, maths equipment and if appropriate, PE kit and food technology ingredients. In addition, students should ensure that they organising their time appropriately at home to complete all KRP to the deadline set.
U niform
At Nether Stowe, students should wear correct uniform throughout the school day. If students are missing parts of their uniform or need to amend the uniform they are wearing, they have the opportunity to do this when arriving at school via the student entrance. If students do not use this opportunity to correct their uniform ahead of the Strong Start, this will be logged on Class Charts and a consequence issued.
D etermination
At Nether Stowe, we strive to be the best that we can be each day. This includes actively engaging in lessons and contributing to wider school life. We can show that we are determined to be successful through following each aspect of our A PROUDER way.
E nvironment
At Nether Stowe, looking after the environment around us shows we are proud of our school. From using bins provided, tucking our chairs under our desks at the end of lessons and treating facilities with respect ensures we are creating a culture of respect.
R elationships
At Nether Stowe, we know that building positive working relationships with our community is key to ensuring our individual successful. Supporting, caring for and championing one another creates a positive culture where all members of our community feel valued.Every day and every lesson: classroom routines and expectations
Our Strong Start
Our day begins at Nether Stowe with our ‘Strong Start’.
The morning line-ups are designed to ensure a strong start to the day and to provide an opportunity for consistent messaging around core values, expectations, and information about school life. They are also designed to ensure students in Years 7 to 11 are registered, have their uniform and equipment checked consistently so that once they get to their tutor time they can fully engage with the personal development programme.
To help add clarity to what the morning routine looks like we have collated several of the enquiries that we have received onto one document to ensure there is clarity for parents as You can find the FAQ here: The Strong Start – FAQ – Nether Stowe School

Consequences at Nether Stowe
As stated in our Relationships and Behaviour policy we believe that students need consequences for poor behaviour choices. We also believe that there should be escalation of consequences for the most severe of behaviours such as discriminatory behaviour. The poster below summarises the consequences that students will receive for not meeting the high expectations that we hold.
